AdvantaJet® Needle-Free Injection
System |
Development
of the AdvantaJet® needle-free injection system is the latest advancement in jet
injection technology.
In 1986, jet injection technology began to focus
on home care diabetic use. The first few devices were large and awkward to
handle. Over the years, design improvements were implemented. Interest in jet
injection methodology heightened as studies indicated that the rate of
subcutaneous insulin absorption increased as the surface to which the insulin
was exposed increased. Further studies determined that the subcutaneous
administration of insulin as a jet spray, similar to that used for mass
inoculations in the military, resulted in a more rapid increase in plasma
insulin concentration.
The AdvantaJet® Injector was developed over
a six-year period in a public and private industry collaboration with medical
professionals.
Initial clinical testing was conducted at Sacre Coeur
Hospital in Montreal during 1984 under a protocol coordinated with Health and
Welfare Canada. Regulatory work with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration was
completed in the summer of 1985. The AdvantaJet® injector was categorized as a
Class II medical device.
AdvantaJet® Systems incorporate a total support
system, including comprehensive training, extraordinary service and 24-hour
helpline.
The injection system also comes with an easy-to-follow
instruction manual, a warranty that provides an exchange if necessary, and
companion demonstration video. Plus, there is a 24-hour toll-free helpline
should your patient have any questions or concerns. |
